Greetings, dear ones. Happy Tuesday.
The proverb beginning with, “The best-laid plans…” and ending with “often go awry,” is apropos of our summer thus far.
Until two weeks ago, most of my family had evaded COVID. Today, all but three remain. It took us down, one by one. Its latest victim, Owen, just days before he was leaving for two weeks at Farm Camp.
He’s symptomless, so seeing the word POSITIVE highlighted in red on his test result was like finding out he was pregnant—awful, shocking, impossible. Yet, it wasn’t impossible. He got COVID from me. We tested as protocol for camp. Positive was not in the cards—until it was.
Either I said these words or thought them:
“This is bad. This is really bad! What are we going to do?”
For about 30 minutes, we were crushed.
But because, collectively—you, me, and everyone reading this—have become excellent at managing disappointment and redirecting expectations, we bounced back rather quickly. We’re a more flexible society—one of COVID’s positives (!).
24 hours later, when we were positive (!) he wasn’t going to camp, I rearranged his entire summer in a matter of hours. What took months to plan took hours to replan.☀️
Now he’s going to Naples next week, mt. biking for two weeks, then hitting Farm Camp as the summer comes to a close. Not bad at all.
Want vs. Should
How do you know the difference? One of the many ways to discern them is by how they feel in your body. A want is expansive. A should is constrictive.
If you want something and it feels good somatically, it’s a want. If you want something, and it feels at all tight in your body, it’s a should.
I’ve written should here to illustrate a point. Otherwise, the word is banned from my vocabulary, and therefore my thinking.
You ought to try it.💥
Thank you, Cassidy Hutchinson
There are so many headlines I could focus on, and I chose this one.
Life is not funny in many areas. Yet, a sliver of hope came from a beautiful admission today by a former top aide to Dirty Diaper and his people.
We’re getting closer to the truth. The deception and disgust inside the White House before Mr. Biden is getting louder.
I don’t pray, but for these consequences, I do. 🙏
Deep Thought
If I were starting a video production company today, I’d name it Go Video, and call it GoVid for short. 🎥
