Friday is my 47th birthday.
Soul Sister
Twenty-two years ago, I was working at my dad’s advertising agency. My cubicle was next to a girl named Ashley. We sat side by side, jamming at our jobs, going to lunch, and commiserating like 20-somethings do.
After six months, she realized the nameplate on my cubicle matched the name on the company door—Silverstein. The fact it took her six months to figure out I was the boss’s daughter, and I didn’t feel the need to reveal it, sealed our friendship solid.
More of a sister than a friend, Ashley's here celebrating my birthday. We’re accused of being sisters everywhere we go. ❤️
Puff on This
FYI, these Cacio E Pepe Puffs from Trader Joe’s are out of this world!
Weave this Into Your Tech Stack
I have a hard time explaining myself in writing sometimes. Specifically when giving feedback on something I’m working on. In those times, I reach for my favorite async communication tool, Loom.
Loom records you talking with your screen in the background. It’s the ultimate show and tell. I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t appreciate receiving such a video. And if I do, well, let’s hope I don’t!
Loom gets 👍 👍
The watcher gets a link, watches your video, and either responds via email or adds their reactions to your video. And they don’t need an account. It’s fab!
PS: I’m sorry I used the phrases tech stack and async in the same sentence. It won’t happen again.
A Meme
My client sent me this today.
Yes, sometimes my job is like this :)
Painted Lady
My dearest, most talented sister, Mia Harlock, is showing her paintings, and you’re invited to the opening reception.
Twelve pieces, tacos, drinks, and tunes at 4009 Piedmont Avenue in Oakland on Saturday, September 23, from 5–8 p.m. All are welcome!
Happy birthday, Simone!!
I'm going to buy these Cacio E Pepe Puffs and eat 47 puffs in your honor. That seems reasonable.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Simone! So great to see you this past week at Kress' stylish and hip home!! Why did you make me drink so much champagne?? Seriously, it was so fun to hang out. Hope it happens again, soon!! Alex, aka Allie, aka Alexandra. Just call me AKA. :)
