Friends, I’ve never been a fan of mixed media art, but I am a fan of mixed media newsletters (I think).
Today’s issue is brought to you by the bags under my eyes.
Last week, I mentioned the lovely thought of changing at the pace of nature. Micro movements over time. Speaking of big changes, my baby, Owen, the noble warrior, turned 15 yesterday. 🎈Happy Birthday, Beautiful!
When parents say, “It goes so fast,” they mean it goes so slowly it’s hardly noticeable. One day, you’re not carrying your baby in your arms; you’re buying it deodorant, picking it up past 11, and mortgaging your home to afford its lunch.
It didn’t just happen. It’s been happening—ever. so. slowly.—at the pace of nature. We are nature. And I’m getting old.

My daughter Emma and I started an Instagram channel called FaceTok with a tagline of Watch our faces talk. Just imagine the quality content!
We improvise on topics you may or may not care about while entertaining you, which everyone cares about. The videos are short and sweet, with a dash of pepper, and a lot of love.
YouTube Phone Home
My friend, creative partner, and co-owner of Heath Ceramics, Cathy Bailey, and I started a YouTube channel for Heath.
The Make Good series explores the good people, places, and things around Heath from an insider’s point of view. It’s scrappy and deliberate. It makes us very happy. In this video, I visit the brilliant head, hands, and heart of potter Tung Chiang as he shares his final Design Series with us.

Book Meets Barn
Preparing for the release of his book Drawn, my friend, illustrator, and designer Craig Frazier laid out his 300-page manuscript on a steel barn to check its flow. There are some things digital will never do as well as physical—achieving flow on a visual book is best done at scale. But finding space is no simple task.

Like a kid in a candy store, my dad watches the Presidential Motorcade go past his office—Biden is in San Francisco for the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference.
